It's Cinco de Mayo!!!

Our May Day Fun

The kiddos and I went to Walmart and bought a pack of red and a pack of pink begonias, and two packs of impatiens also in red and pink. Then, we came home and got to work.

Four pots were filled with dirt and flowers. Some little cards were added so the recipients would know what the flowers were for. (But no names, 'cause this is supposed to be anonymous. Speaking of anonymous...no one tell that my phone got to help us plant, 'k', I really need some pockets.)

Emma delivered our first pot.

I delivered the second.

MJonathan and Em took care of #3.

And, our little friend Blake took care of his delivery.

This was a lot of fun, and it's a neat tradition we will be repeating....so come next May first, be on the lookout for flowers on your doorstep...or mailbox...or porch.

It's May first, and that means May Day!

I honestly have no clue what the origin of May Day is, but I am going to go Google it now to find out.

I *do* know that May Day traditions include leaving flowers secretly on peoples gates, and mailboxes, and doorsteps, so we did that this morning. I'll update later with pics.

Off to find out if I am secretly participating in some ancient heathen custom.

My boy will be 6 on Saturday!

I cannot believe it...six years old...*MY* son!

I love him to pieces and am so thankful for him. He is sweet and tenderhearted, and, onery and mischievious. He can be so brave and protective, and yet, he still needs his dad to tuck him in and read him stories at night. When he gets hurt, he still needs his mom to hug him and kiss him and pinch his cheeks. (Okay, so he endures me messing with his cheeks, and to set the record straight, I no longer pinch them...but they are so soft and smushy...I love them!)

I am so very proud of my boy. Thank you, Lord, for six wonderful years.

Oh, and he wants a giraffe cake for his bday on Saturday. I am only vaguely aware of how I am going to manage that one.

Let them eat cake!!!

Hooray! I finished the bday cake for a friend's little girl's party.

It all started last year when Michael did the 1 year photos for this family. One of the props we used was a simply decorated, 6"- 2 layer cake with a #1 on top. The little girl got to tear into the cake while MB took pictures. I made the cake, and the parents loved it so much that they came this year to ask if I would do the party cake for their daughter's 2nd bday.

I have never made a big (larger than a 9"-3 layer, or 13x9 sheet) cake, but, I love a challenge, so, I accepted.

The party theme is Tinkerbell...and here is my cake. It's simple, but, I really love it. I hope they feel the same way. The base is a cardboard thing I picked up at Michael's. They don't have to use it, but I wanted to give the option.

The layers are yellow butter cake. The top is a 9" - 2 layer, and the bottom is a 12" - 2 layer. The cake is iced in buttercream, and the flowers are fondant. Tinkerbell is a little doll I picked up at the store.

Go, girl, go!

This week, Emalea, lost a front top tooth AND her training wheels! *sniff, sniff*

Daddy lent his wrench and mechanical prowess to the endeavor.

More Flowers

"Hand"-made flowers.

Family Fun magazine is just chock full of the funnest projects! These are Easter lilies made out of handprints, construction paper, chenille stems, and tape.

The kids are going to give these to the older ladies in our church on Sunday.

I love the little tableau being played out in the background. :)
